A PLACE OF OUR OWN
A consumer-led support group and service provider for persons with
chronic mental illnesses. A Place of Our Own uses specially trained
peer counselors with activities and a drop-in center as an outreach
program associated with Tillamook Family Counseling Center.
AMERICAN RED CROSS
Assists local victims of house fires and disasters. This emergency
help may include meals, groceries, shelter, clothing, emergency home
repairs and basic household items.
COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES (CASA)
Provides volunteers to act on behalf of children who are involved in the court system.
CEDAR CREEK CHILD CARE CENTER, INC.
South Tillamook County's only non-profit full day, full year child
care center. Offers parents high quality affordable child care and
preschool programs. Accepts infants, toddlers, preschoolers and also
operates a great after school program for older children.
COMMUNITY ACTION
RESOURCE ENTERPRISES, INC.
CARE is a charitable social service
agency and community development corporation working to combat poverty
in Tillamook County. CARE provides homeless sheltering, emergency
services, community food security, child
care resource and referral, energy assistance, child abuse and neglect
prevention, and assisted living for seniors and disabled persons. CARE
also develops community facilities and affordable housing.
FAITH IN ACTION
Volunteer coordination is the strong suit of this agency, which
recruits, trains and assigns volunteers to community members in need.
Volunteers provide a wide variety of services, including simple visits
to lonely people, handyman type work around the house, transportation
to doctor's appointments and other more complicated matters.
GIRL SCOUTS
Girl Scouts of the USA is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world.
HEALTHY FAMILIES
This program provides educational and helpful hospital visits and home
visits to parents of newborns. Then they offer ongoing counseling and
family support to help keep kids safe and families healthy.
MARIE MILLS CENTER, INC.
Provides a sheltered workshop and group homes for developmentally
disabled adults. Marie Mills Center also offers employment and work
experience and help with daily living skills for handicapped citizens
of Tillamook County.
NORTH COUNTY FOOD BANK, INC.
Supports residents of North Tillamook County with food and emergency
supplies. Offers a 3 - 5 day supply of nutritious food to help those
who are hungry.
SALVATION ARMY
Provides support for displaced families, counseling, emergency shelter
and a variety of other services throughout the county. Offers daily
meals for hungry people and provides back-to-school supplies to kids
from poor families.
TILLAMOOK BAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE LITERACY PROGRAM
The program focuses on Tillamook County residents aged 16 and older who are working to improve their literacy skills in reading, writing, math or communications. The program supports students working toward improving their English language skills or preparing to take their GED examinations. A program supported by Tillamook Bay Community College.
TILLAMOOK
ASSOCIATION FOR RETARDED CITIZENS
TARC provides support to the Marie Mills Center group and small care
homes in the community. TARC also sponsors Tillamook County residents
in both the Trask Mountain and Oregon State Special Olympics. They
help mentally retarded people with camp scholarships, medical and
dental care, social activities and parent support.
TILLAMOOK BAY CHILD CARE CENTER, INC.
Provides nurturing early childhood care and education in a safe and
loving environment. Offers child care for children from 6 weeks old to
6 years old, and also after-school care for elementary aged children.
TILLAMOOK COUNTY FOOD BANK, INC.
Serves residents of Central and South Tillamook County by providing
food and supplies for hundreds of local families each year. More than
60% of the clients are children.
HEAD START - Child and Family Development Programs
A free family-focused child development program that addresses literacy, social services, nutrition and health for children from poverty-level families. Three locations serve North, South and Central Tillamook County. Eligibility guidelines apply.
WOMEN'S CRISIS CENTER
Offers sensitive and caring assistance and advocacy service for
victims of rape and domestic violence. The Women's Crisis Center also provides education to
the community about preventing domestic and sexual violence.
YMCA
Provides families and individuals with opportunities in sports
leagues, swim programs, childcare, vacation camps and exercise
programs. The YMCA offers scholarships to those in need and helps
build strong health children and families.
