Tillamook County Commissioners Proclaim October as “United Way Month”
TILLAMOOK, Oregon – he Tillamook County Commissioners proclaimed October as United Way Month in honor of the support that the Tillamook County United Way provides the community. They encouraged all citizens to support the organization.
The local United Way has been a member of the Tillamook community since 1976. Every year since it was incorporated, the organization has raised funds and distributed them to its non-profit member agencies – charities that serve many needs in Tillamook County. The 2007 campaign goal is to raise $100,000, which will in-turn be distributed to its 18 current member agencies.
The resolution brought before the commissioners stated that the Tillamook County United Way has “faithfully served the citizens of Tillamook County for 32
years", and that 92 percent of the donated funds stay in the county to help fund local charitable organizations. It further stated that many local charitable organizations are a means through which neighbors help neighbors in Tillamook County and that those organizations depend upon the United Way for financial support for their programs. The commissioners then proclaimed that October would be known as “United Way Month” in the county and urged that citizens support the Tillamook County United Way and its efforts.
